Starting your own business on the web is by no means easy but it does not have to be complicated either.  Below we have answered a few questions that may help you make your way through the "web".  If you have any other questions, just ask!

  1. What do I do first?
  2. What is a web host?
  3. Why are there so many steps?
  4. Why should I have someone else design my site?

What do I do first?

The first step in starting on online business is securing a domain name, such as yourdomain.com.  Unfortunately, most domain names are taken but not all of them are being used.  Sometimes you can purchase a domain name but most often the asking price is high.  You can also check a domain name  and see if it is available (click here). If you are lucky enough to find a domain name, register it QUICK! (Click here to register your domain). Your second option is a sub-domain.  Such as a yourdomain.anywebhost.com or a site through your AOL home pages or something similar.

What is a Web Host?

Basically a web host is a landlord.  Say you are starting a business and need to lease retail space.  A web host is the person you are going to lease that space through.  Operating a website requires a web server computer which can appropriately handle the content and traffic for your website.  We offer VERY affordable web hosting packages from $9.95, click here for more information.

Why are there so many steps?

It is just like opening a retail store.  You must choose a name (domain registration), acquire space for your store (web hosting) and set it up (web design).

Why should I have someone else design my site?

Back to the real world.  If you just leased space in a mall and was getting ready to move in all your merchandise and design your store.  Would you do it all by yourself?

There are many packages out there that help you design your site, some even free.  However, unless you are computer savvy, your site will lack that professional touch.  Our affiliate HouseofHosting.com offers web design packages from $99.
